It's great to see local Louisiana artists about to break into the national scene. Especially when the music being made is as heartfelt and genuine as The Benjy Davis Project has created since 2001. The Baton Rouge boys are poised to step into the national spotlight, and with the help of their latest release "Dust," they are almost guaranteed all the success that they want.
The Howlin Wolf is proud to take part in showcasing this fabulous band's talent, and you as fans need to ensure that you are front and center at this show. Who knows, next time you have the opportunity to see them it may have to be from the nosebleed section of your closest "meglo-arena-dome."
So come on out to the Howlin Wolf Northshore on Friday, January 22nd and participate in the support of these local rising stars.
Rockin Dopsie Jr. comes from a Zydeco legacy that goes back many generations. His father (Sr.) had been a seminal figure in the genre until his death in 1993. Immediately Dopsie Jr. stepped up to carry on that legacy.
Not only has Jr. carried on the tradition, he has elevated the music and the band to new heights by bringing flocks of new fans. He does so by taking the music and adding a stage presence that can only be compared to the one and only James Brown. The flamboyant and energetic dancing is the reason why Jr. chose to play the washboard and not the accordion. Although he was breaking tradition, he needed to be free to do what he pleased while entertaining the crowd.
Don't miss your opportunity to see the man and his band in action. Rockin Dopsie Jr. and the Zydeco Twisters will be rockin the Northshore on Saturday January the 16th and you can purchase tickets here.
